I seriously cannot get enough of the Florida Keys. It seems like every time a trip ends, I’m raring to go on my next one already. It has definitely become the top vacation destination for me and this site is a testament to all of the great times that I’ve had there.
What’s Great About the Florida Keys
To put it another way, what’s not great about this place? If you’re coming from a northern climate, obviously escaping to the tropical weather can’t be beat. Even if you’re just a local Floridian making a drive down to the islands, getting that ocean breeze is still a treat.
One thing that I always enjoy there is the nightlife. There are so many places to enjoy the night and have a good time with your loved one, your friends, your family, and the friendly locals. I will admit that sometimes I go a little too hard when I’m down there, but it’s a great place to let loose. Just don’t go overboard (and, in all seriousness, if you have a problem, there is help provided at resources like this one here at.
Another thing that I love down there, and this is pretty obvious, are all the beaches. I’m not quite a world traveler who has been to all corners of the Earth, but I’m guessing you would be hard-pressed to find beaches as beautiful as this anywhere else in the world. Plus, with the islands so small easy to get around, it’s one of those unique places where you can take in sunrise and sunset over the ocean on the same day. Each is equally amazing.
The resorts down there are second to none, like my previous post about the Cheeca Lodge on Isla Morada. One of my favorite places in the world to stay, and pretty much where I always make my accommodations when I travel to the Keys. The rooms, the pools, the restaurants and bars, the amenities – all of it make it a first-class place to call home while you’re down there. You don’t even need to leave the resort, everything you could want is on-site.
There are so many different places to explore around the islands, so much take in, so many things to do. If you lead an active lifestyle, there are a lot of different areas that make great hiking. If you just want to laze around on the beach and soak up the sun, there’s plenty of that. A few friends of mine run in a half marathon in the Keys every winter and it’s always a fun weekend. Could you think of a more beautiful race course? Or a more relaxing setting after you’re done with the race?
This hardly scratches the surface of all the things I love about the Florida Keys, but you get the idea. If you’ve never been, you’re missing out! Make sure it’s in your future travel plans – you won’t regret it! I can’t wait for my next trip.
